Meet Our Experienced Attorney's

Jim Thornton

Jim Thornton joined Thornton & Coy, P.L.L.C. in 2004 after having worked in a private law firm, for a large insurance company, and for the Iowa Insurance Division. Jim returned to private practice because he missed the personal interaction with clients and the variety of challenges found in a general practice setting.

 

Jim graduated from Iowa State University in 1994 and from Drake University’s Law School in 1997. He is a member of the Iowa Bar Association, National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, and is admitted to practice law in the State of Iowa before both the state and federal courts.

Jonathan A. Coy

Jonathan A. Coy graduated from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law in 2004. Prior to attending Penn State, Jonathan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Philosophy.

 

Jonathan practices in the areas of bankruptcy and Social Security disability. Jonathan enjoys representing bankruptcy clients as it gives him the chance to help others find a way to get a fresh start when their debts are overwhelming. Jonathan enjoys representing Social Security clients as he can help them get the benefits they need when they can no longer work.

 

Jonathan is married and has three children. He enjoys gardening and has a small flock of chickens. Jonathan also enjoys hiking, camping, and playing the guitar and banjo.

Jonathan A. Coy

Jonathan A. Coy practices in the areas of Social Security Disability, Bankruptcy, and Wills and Estate Planning. He was admitted to practice law in the State of Iowa in 2004, as well as Federal Courts in the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa, and before the Social Security Administration as an Attorney Representative.

A native of Ames, Iowa, Jonathan currently lives in Bondurant, Iowa.
